AI brand perception: what assistants say about your business
Before they call, more buyers now ask an assistant “is this clinic any good?” or “X or Y?”. The answer is a first impression you did not write. We check it, trace where it comes from, and correct the sources.
Why the answer about your name matters
GEO is about being named when someone asks a general question, such as “best orthodontist near me”. This service covers the next moment: the buyer already has your name and asks the assistant about you. Is it reliable? What does it cost? Is it better than the other one?
Assistants answer those questions with confidence, even when their information is thin. They mix you up with a company that has a similar name. They quote a price from an old page. They repeat a complaint from years ago as if it were current, or describe a service you stopped offering. The buyer has no reason to doubt it, and you never see the conversation.
You cannot see these answers in any analytics tool. The only way to know is to ask, regularly, in every language your buyers use.
What we check in each audit
Accuracy
Address, phone, hours, prices, services, people, opening dates. Every factual claim is checked against the truth.
Tone
Whether the answer is neutral, warm or wary, and which reviews or articles set that tone.
Comparisons
What the assistant says when asked to compare you with named competitors, and which strengths and weaknesses it gives each side.
Confusion
Mix-ups with businesses of a similar name, a former company at your address, or a parent brand.
Sources
The pages and listings each answer draws on, where the assistant shows them, and the likely ones where it does not.
Language gaps
The French, English and Arabic answers often differ. We test each, because your buyers do not all ask in the same language.
Common errors and where they usually come from
| What the assistant says | Usual source | What fixes it |
|---|---|---|
| An old address or phone number | A directory or map listing nobody updated | Correcting the listing, then every copy of it we can find |
| A service you no longer offer | An old page still online, or a cached directory entry | Removing or redirecting the page, and asking the directory to correct it |
| Prices from years ago | Archived pages, forum threads, old price lists | A current pricing or “how pricing works” page that states the facts plainly |
| You and a similar name blended together | Too little distinctive information about you | Consistent name, description and profiles everywhere, with structured data linking them |
| An old complaint presented as fact | A review thread or article that still ranks well | A public reply, and newer reviews and coverage that tell the current story |
How we correct a wrong answer
Record it exactly
The prompt, the assistant, the language, the date and the full answer. Answers vary, so we repeat the prompt before calling anything an error.
Trace the source
We follow the citations when the assistant shows them, and search for the claim word for word when it does not.
Fix what you control
Your site, your Google Business Profile, your social profiles and your structured data come first. They are fastest to change.
Ask others to correct
Directories, partners and publishers get a precise, polite correction request with the evidence attached.
Re-test and report
The same prompts are run again the following month, and each error is marked fixed, improving or unchanged.
What the monthly report tracks
Errors open and closed
Each wrong claim found, its source, what we did and whether the answer has changed.
Tone by assistant
Whether answers about you read as positive, neutral or negative, per assistant and language.
Comparison results
How you come out against the competitors buyers name most often.
Sources about you
The sites assistants rely on when they describe you, and how that list is changing.
Brand demand
Searches for your name and visits from assistants, from our tracking.
Frequently asked questions
Can I ask OpenAI or Google to correct what their AI says about me?
Each assistant has feedback buttons, and we use them, but answers move when the sources change. If an answer is defamatory, that is a matter for a lawyer, and we can document it for them.
How long does it take to fix a wrong answer?
When the assistant looks the fact up live, a corrected source can change the answer within weeks. When the error sits in what a model learned in training, it can linger until newer models arrive, although answers backed by a live search usually win.
Will you remove negative reviews?
No. We help you reply well and ask recent customers for honest reviews through our review generation work. Newer, genuine reviews are what change the tone of an answer.
What if an assistant confuses us with another company?
It happens to short or shared names. We make your name, description, address and logo identical everywhere, add organisation structured data that links your official profiles, and earn mentions through digital PR that place you in the right context.
Which assistants do you check?
ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Microsoft Copilot, Claude and Google’s AI Overviews and AI Mode, in French, English and Arabic. For ChatGPT in depth, see our ChatGPT optimization service.
